News photographer Gyan retired to Photo Frame ;Body cremated

He was always smiling and was never tired of travelling on Buses,Trains and aircrafts for news coverage assignments ,but Today, his mortal remains were consigned to leaping flames at Yamuna Pusta Cremation ground in the national capital. This news photographer died  here last evening.

The 53 year old Gyanendra K. Kalshan ,who hailed from agrarian Muzzafernagar in Uttar Pradesh, had adjusted to the metropolis life style for last  three decades and was popular among city’s news photographers. He covered  hundreds of assignments both in the capital and outside .

At most of the assignments on his beat,he used to reach early by his scooter to take position at the strategic position for sharp shots without  sophisticated zoom and tele-lenses.

The Unassuming news photographer was employed with India’s News Agency  -United News of India(UNI) for last 27 years .In the saying -that life is so short and sudden -he never believed and  was always  upbeat to do something to advance his professional career to serve the family in a better way.

Hugely possessive of his camera kits , Gyanendra was always particular   that he be allowed not to share camera body and lenses with others come what may. It was only a few days back,he  suffered from  Jaundice and the  health situation detoriated .

After dozens of examinations at AIIMS, it was found that he is suffering from cancer in his intestine.Gyan always carried Tiffin of home cook food in his bag and glucose biscuits for snacks in the evening. Almost every day, I used to have sips of steaming hot tea with him with two biscuits from him.But no one knew that he would fall victim to the infection which finally snatched him from us for ever.

Refusing to yield to the deadly infection,he walked into my room with some tubes and a pouch of urine hanging and said it was a matter of a few days I will be on workm but despite being an incorrigible optimist ,I was not convinced and daily enquired about his falling health.

Today,a Bunch of news photographers were sharing memories of the departed soul. He breathed his last at the Balaji Cancer hospital last evening. His pyre was lit by his young son Rahul, who ,recently got his MMBS degree. Tragically,Gyan was nowdays looking for a proper and commodious place for opening clinic for him,but before any thing materliased ,he expired,.

Before working for the News Agency,he was doing a video films work from the Mandi house area for some production houses in Mumbai in late seventies, but due to lack of financial support, he had left that assignment and joined 24x7 news photographer job .
