The Pathankot attack which claimed lives of three security personnel and left four suspected Pakistani terrorists dead has yet again vindicated the fact that peace initiatives between the two countries, India and Pakistan, were not palatable to some strong groups there. The attack was timed by terrorists outfits as it came barely a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi surprise visit to Raiwind in Lahore to greet his counterpart Nawaz Sharif on latter’s birthday day and his grand daughter’s marriage. The attack came as a rude shock for the top diplomats who were bracing up for the foreign secretaries level talks in Islamabad in the current month. The two sides peddling peace initiatives had met in Bangkok much to surprise of many as meeting of the two camps’ National security advisers met secretly .
