As per the Holy book Bhagwad Gita--Lord Krishna during the epic war Mahabharata told warrior Arjuna
that the society follows great men .In The third chapter of Gita a sholaka (21) in Sanskrit narrates -“ YadyaCharit, Shrestrastat devatoro Jana:Sa yatyapraman Kurte Lokastanuvardate” (Whatever Greatmen
do,common people start following same path).
The Great discourse is relevant for last thousands of years . Iconic personalities’ assertions are not taken lightly, so Rulers, instead of taking words as an offensive, should take cognizance of concerns to pave way for prompt and effective address of issues. If they do not take effective steps ,elements ,spreading canard against each other, will be encouraged to continue their campaign at a heavy cost and collateral damage.
At same time, Contemporary great men should also be cautious enough while making the statements which may fuel apprehensions in minds of common man of their community and castes, and they may react in panic or spread gossips. Such developments vitiate atmosphere and impede growth of the society, individual and nation.
Top Politicians, whose position keep on changing from Treasury to opposition benches and vice versa should also exercise restraint rather than in battle gears at drop of hats. If Religious intolerance can not be allowed to flourish,Political Intolerance should also be eschewed.
The poetry of Bullhe Shah,(1758)is considered one of the glories of pre modern Punjabi literature. He profoundly drew upon Sufi mysticism in his writings.
In one of his lyrics ,famous for their vivid style and outspoken denunciation of artificial religious divisions by Hindus, Muslims ,and Sikhs, He said –“the Wick of true knowledge is lit like this.for sure I am no Hindu or Turk,it is the name of love to which I adhere. The lover is conquered by god. The Wick of true knowledge is lit like this. See what a clamor the robbers have raised, how they have created birth and death. The fool makes a loud fuss ……….. the fool loses his wits for nothing. True communication lies in silence.”his poetry are Edited and Translated by Christopher Shackle, Emeritus Professor in University of London.
All such readings assume additional significance when Law makers gear up for hot debate on growing incidents of Parliament , the temple of Democracy, and world Eyes are riveted towards India, known for its Unity in Diversity . The Debate is necessitated in the wake of several incidents and the sensitive environs-reflected in Tsunami of conflicting statements and hate mails on the Social Media and other traditional media Fora.
