Mufti Junior Tassaduq of Omkara fame appears on Kashmir Political Screen

A decade ago ,A Hindi film Omkara , directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, made buzz among cinema buffs , every ingredient of the spelling stuff was appreciated –characters, directions, dialogues, photography ,but no one  knew much about  the 45 year  man behind the camera to catch action of the crime thriller.

The Film based on legendary writer Shakespeare’s  much acclaimed piece “Othello”,but now a days, cool climes of Bijebehara reverberate with Omkara and its Cinematographer Tassaduq Hussain Mufti.

Lost in his father’s profound memories ,Tassaduq is seen with her sister Mehbooba Mufti  ,almost all time ever since they lost Father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed ,but now tongues wag fervently that  he would say good bye to his Bollyood stint to be in politics.

Lot of churning is underway in the Kashmir valley and speculations are rife when the People’s Democratic party (PDP) chief and Aanatnag MP will step into her father’s shoes to don the mantle of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister ship . The Family is in mourning and it may take some time  for the oath taking ceremony, but others say loose ends in the Ruling coalition-PDP-BJP are being tightened. At one stage, observers had started weighing  options of a new scenario – PDP- Congress coalition in the sensitive border state. Political scenario is still hazy as haze of fog and snow envelops the state.

It was in the PDP’s Core committee on Sunday,Tassaduq appeared and Mehbooba introduced him to every one present there and sources said she was particular to explain that her brother was interested to know views and memories of his father from veteran leaders. Some say that she also said he ( Tassaduq) wanted to join politics to do something for the state especially in the field of environment. Many say he has quietly helped his father in culture and retaining the valley’s sites .

Surprisingly, when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed  was  alive, Tassaduq ,the younger brother of Mehbooba never showed his  high profile stature in the field of Cinema. He, after doing the cinematography courses in US,is considered as one of the best hands available hands in Mumbai. Going by his reputation, Vishal  Bhardwaj who himself hails from Uttar Pradesh, picked the Kashmiri hand ,having smart  but innocent looks.

He kept making trips to the valley from his workstations in Mumbai and Bangalore.
Though Nothing has come out officially, but emergence of Tassaduq on the Kashmir scene is turning out a thriller in itself. He may contest the Lok Sabha seat from Picturesque  Anantnag as his sister Mehabooba has to vacate the seat. she represents in the Lower house of the Parliament. She  will contest the Assembly seat fallen vacant after her father’s demise to be member of the state’s Assembly.

PDP sources indicate that the debate is underway that the PDP must ensure that  the agenda clinched between the PDP-BJP during the formation of the government must be  adhered to and there must not be any dilution of the common minimum programme (CMP).
