Delhities tightly wrap Arvind’s Odd-Even Muffler around necks to beat Pollution & Jams

Beating transportation blues,People of the one of the World’s polluted cities, Delhi, forced themselves to get acclimatized to car rationing formula imposed by the Arvind Kejriwal government to reduce pollution in the national capital which has more cars than vehicles in Kolkata,Mumbai and Chennai put together.

The scheme which is to last till January 15 has impacted the country capital in more ways than one.The public transport which was seen as cattle class travelling has occupied the center stage of  movements .secondly  hostile colleagues and neighbors sport friendly smiles and subtly explore prospects of car-pooling.

Encouraged by haves choice to ride bicycles to reach their high domed offices, many quote them and firmly stick to odd and even formula for private cars. Doing justice to the air pollution control measuers,Many High court, lower courts  and Supreme court judges have lent support to the new rule. A few of them drove to their chambers on bicycles. A cardiac surgeon at an upscale Hospital also cycled down to his hospital.

The Law and order machinery has to gear up itself to ensure that Traffic jams are not caused due to checking of vehicles. Reports of Jams and massive crowds at Metro stations cast negative spell on the entire drill

As Public transport is available with less number of passengers, because of frequent and additional trips, many bureaucrats in this city of India’s top Babus, step into buses without mental hassles and proudly declare that they have boarded the bus or a metro. Around 5,000 buses both public and private buses are plying and rider ship has increased by five lakhs. In Metrol trains, record number of over two million people travelled ,and no untoward incident was reported.

The Arvind’s ministers are leading by example as they are having car pools, bicycles or public transport buses to reach to their offices.
Surprisngly,No one is talking about the scheme in bad taste and instead comment that there was no option left if we have to breathe . More than pollution levels, many on social sides appreciate smooth runs and point out at the deserted streets ,recalling about the traffic mess that used to cause snarls there.
The National Media front paged the success story as such a development  was not expected –man bites dog is the newsy copy rather than dog bites. man. Many papers slipped the item to the inside pages virtually admitting that the city has adopted it and it is no more a news.

Skeptics now say let schools reopen then you will see the mess, but many add that “that too will pass like Monday “.Though it is bit early to script it as a success story but the city mood appears to be tough on the pollution.

No one is cracking jokes on the muffler’s men instead the social media is bombarded with accolades like Wow ! Travelled at a faster pace to cover twenty plus kms in just fifteen minutes.

More and more auto rickshaws are plying and with any number of commuters available many of them eschewed over charging practice.30 to 35 per cent increase was recorded in such transport.

Cops who had embarked on the  job with a feeling of doubt appear in no mood to violators seeing common public response.

About 30000 challans were slapped and on lookers give dirty  looks while many offer rose sticks as
