Reverse count down for Odd-Even drill starts ;Commuters palpation spike

Palpation of people increases in the national capital which slips into odd and even vehicular mode after 72. Hours.

At least ten lakh vehicles are slated to go off roads daily in a desperate bid to decrease vehicular pollution, but what will be scenario on streets is any body's guess.

Metro cars' frequency will be increased manifold and planners feel it would be a timely panacea. Government employees appear to take things easy on a plea that they can not sprint to workplace with out proper transport and higher ups have to think over whether the Bio-Metric attendance is relevant or not. Tussles are bound to be there at offices, streets and in public transport may it be buses or metro cars.

In private sector, employees have no choice but to report in time. Delhi government is faced with acid test and Delhi police will have to ensure order and implement odd and even concept.

The ball is in Delhi police court for any law and order problem .they will have to book errand drivers flouting announced norms.

The police has sought powers to impound cars whose drivers flout norms. The rule is Sunday will be free fir all,but on odd number plate private cars will be allowed on odd days and likewise even number plate cars will ply on even days. The initial programme  is slated for fifteen days from Jan 1.

The police is invoking section 115 of the motor vehicle act which empowers it to stop cars from entering into the city, but the step is fraught with dangers of massive jams at the borders.the DMRC has announced 198 additional trains for the period.on an average the Delhi

Metro trains  carry 2.6 million commuters daily making 2,827 trips but now additional 365 trips will be done daily.CISF which looks after the metro trains security has also made the additional arrangements with more force at various stations.

The DTC has also planned additional fleet to cope up with the rush besides making arrangements fir shuttle services in places like Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad .

Twitter India has decided to help people with information about routes and availability of public transport via its #pollutionfreeDelhi.

Success of the campaign hugely rests on common man who has to carry it forward in order to ensure that the capital breathes easy. Both the state government and Centre has to act in tandem for the successful implementation of the maiden pilot project in the country which is battling with pollution hazards in a large number of cities. The programme may result into robust public transport.

When CNG was introduced in the capital many years ago ,there was massive chaos on streets for a few days but ultimately things settled down and nightmarish days of thick black pollutants on the ITO bridge at other crowded and traffic jammed streets . Let us hope for the best, but New year 2016 is all set to start with a bang trans formative bang.
