Mercury to plummet further in Delhi; Political temperature to shoot up

Temperature is really mercurial in nature in the national capital, witness to historic developments since time immemorial. but of late its mercury fluctuates violently much to the dismay of international observers.

At times when mercury plummets ,political tempers strike roof and temperature in political and power corridors shoots.

State chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal known for his mufflers this time is leading from front and racked up issues against union finance minister Arun Jaitley accusing him alleged fraud committed in the Delhi and district cricket Association (DDCA). Fotmer Test cap and BJP leader Kirty Azad added grist to whole episode by holding a press conference to press home the point that contracts were given to bogus forms by DDCA The issue is now set up more tension in the caital this week as the opposition may grab the chance to turn it into a major political row.

Striking back with brute force, Both the central government and the ruling BJP fired guns blazing and dubbed it as political design by Aam Admi party to bring disrepute  to the. Narendra Modi government.

Uproarious scenes were order of the day in both the houses of Parliament who is in its winter session.

On December 19,2015 ,high octane drama crackled in the Patiala Court where Congress President Sonia  Gandhi and her son Rahul along with three others appeared in the court in connection with criminal case slammed against them by BJP leader Subramaniyan  Swamy.  The Congress leaders were given bail in the case and next hearing is fixed for Feb 20 . Congress managed to turn the event into a political  show down. Both Sonia and Rahul accused the Modi government  with carrying out political vendetta.

Tempers ran high after a noisy tussel in far flunged Arunachal Pradesh.
Describing the Gauhati High Court order, putting in abeyance the decisions taken during a special session of Arunachal Assembly called by Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa, as a vindication of its stand, Congress has demanded recalling of the Governor.

The Gauhati High Court this week had put on hold, the Assembly proceedings in Arunachal Pradesh, wherein the Congress government was 'voted out' and the Speaker 'impeached' by a group of BJP and rebel Congress lawmakers, who held the meeting in a community hall and a hotel. The court's interim order has put a freeze on all Assembly proceedings till February 2.
AICC senior Spokesperson and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said, ''our stand has been vindicated by the Gauhati High court.
''We have been saying time and again that the Governor has been trying to destabilise an elected Government in the state and calling a session of the Assembly and fixing its agenda without the concurrence of the Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers.''
Hinting that GST Bill may not go through the winter session, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today directly blamed the Congress for stalling the passage of the Bill in Parliament.
However, the Minister said the government would push for other reform bills in the Rajya Sabha in the remaining three days of the Session, which ends on Wednesday.
The bills include amendment to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, a legislation to set up commercial courts and bankruptcy code.
Addressing an annual general meeting of industry chamber FICCI, Mr Jaitley said, "I have no doubt in my mind that attempt to delay (GST) is entirely for collateral reasons. And the only collateral reason I suspect is if I couldn't do it, then why should somebody else do it?"
Mr Jaitley expressed dismay over the quality of Indian politics, which has kept the government from pursuing its legislative agenda and stalled crucial reforms like Goods and Services Tax Bill in Parliament.
Maintaining that in a democracy it is politics that determines policies, Mr Jaitley warned that future of Indian policy-making will depend on quality of politics.
He stated that in the past, India has paid price for bad politics.
Mr Jaitley said when the world started liberalising in 1960s and 1970s, Indian policy-making was aimed at redistributing income rather expanding the economy. “We lived in a world of hallucination,” he added.
Then in 1991, India drastically changed it economic policies. “1991, which became a defining moment for India, reform was thrust on us,” the FM said.

He said, “In 2015, when we look back, 1971 was an era when you could survive on slogan without performance.”

More Political rows are unfolding to trigger temperature rise.
