the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh are out ,scripting a new normal
political scenario in the caste and communal politics ridden state, with Prime Minister
Narendra Modi emerging as a successful Skipper.
The state elections in the state and its outcome- giving landslide victory
to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) –has put a stamp of approval on the disruptive
politics of Modi who has scaled down traditional parameters in the ground politics in
the most vibrant political hinterland of the country.
The massive
mandate to the BJP in the Hindi state, which sends 80 seats to the lower house
of Parliament ,has proved beyond an iota of the doubt that the Modi-Amit Shah style
of politics has created a new normal for the politics where fresh ground rules
for polls have been laid- throwing political pundits for a toss.
Some of the journalists
went on air to admit that they were caught off the guard with staggering seats
tally of the BJP. Out of 403 seats in
the state assembly, the BJP is all set to win three hundred and ten seats.
(New Normal
means the current state of being after some dramatic change has transpired. And
Disruptive innovation is an innovation that
creates a new market and value network and eventually disrupts an existing market
and value network ,displacing established
value network leading new alliances, products etc. The term was defined and phenomenon

state after an event occurs )
Many critics
say that Modi’s rhetoric veering around polarization on communal lines in a
veiled way has fetched rich dividends to the victors, but a close analysis of massive
victory says otherwise: Modi has emerged as cult figure and there is no match in
the opposition to counter his charisma; Non-Yadav OBCs balkanization in favor of
Modi; electorate visualized demonetization as a major crackdown on corrupts; poor
people considered demonetization as a major lashing of rich classes; and too
much thrust on Muslim votes by other two players- SP-Congress alliance and Ms.
Mayawati’s giving about 100 tickets to Muslim candidates.
With the
team Modi repeating its Lok Sabha performance,(BJP had polled 73 seats out of
80 seats) in the state assembly polls, Fresh aspirations have taken wings that
a national party will be governing the state after 27 years and regional
outfits have been shown the way .
Many feel
that the development tempo of the Akhilesh government will gain more speed
under the BJP leadership. Voters say openly that it was the war of perceptions and
BJP won on the fact that they would crackdown on criminals. Many comment that
over indulgence of the Yadav community in the governance –like most of the
coveted slots went to the community – if not absolutely but this perception was
ruling the roost.
The Ground
rules changed so fast that even in the Muslims dominated areas, the BJP emerged
with flying colors and the Bahujan Samaj Party Supremo Mayawati rushed to hold
a press conference casting aspersions on the outcome of voting .she suspected
that the electronic voting machines were tempered. Her detractors, however, were
swift to assert that it was unpalatable verdict for her party due to the new normal
situation post demonetisation . Some of the Modi opponents said that the Post truth of BJP's campaign has won and people were swept away by full throated campaign against rivals on the social media.
The New narrative which gained currency today is that The Modi magic is continuing and opposition camps will have to review their strategy if they want to remain in the poll ring in 2019 when NaMo seeks a fresh manadte a fresh mandate.
The BSP which was nursing to usurp power from the Ruling SP in UP was reduced to
a tally of 20 plus seats . The incumbent
SP and its ally Congress were limited to about 75 seats. Congress had managed
to save its grace in Punjab while sea-saw battle is underway in Goa and
Manipur.
The Hill state of Uttrakhand ,too, has gone to the BJP way outclassing Harish Rawat Led Congress government there.
