Slew of Initiatives are on cards for healthcare in India: Nitin Gadkari; Modern Pulmonary Unit Opened in NCR’s Super specialty Yashoda Hospital

For Doctors, sporting spotless white aprons and similarly for their paramedical and other supporting staff, it was an absorbing evening with a difference last week:They were waiting with bated breath for not any patient, but opening of the most modern pulmonary and respiratory wing in their super specialty hospital by the country’s high profile law maker Nitin Jairam Gadakri.

As wait was kissing patience limits, they threw themselves into a celebratory mold, and latent talents of public speaking, singing songs, cracking jokes came to the fore, apparently for the first time in the super specialty Yashoda hospital Kaushambhi on borders of the national capital and Ghaziabad.

Some sang, some gave narratives of their pet spheres and some chose to remain glued to seats relishing hard earned but rare relaxed moments.

By the time Gadakri  arrived it was very late in the evening but enthusiasm was still palpable.  Ironically, The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways was  caught himself in traffic jam in Delhi. He lost no moments and gave broad idea  of mega plans of more lanes high ways connecting Delhi with UP. Next day,  he was up in air to make aerial survey of proposed highways’ lane expansion plans in the region.

An emotional  Gadakri, moved by heart wrenching stories of poor young patients and their treatment in this  hospital for days together, shared his vision of pain of expensive medical treatment, increasing commercialization and scope of social service in India . He said a cancer rehabilitation Center was built in Mumbai for young cancer patients through his initiative recently ,and it had imparted a new lease of scores of young children, afflicted by the disease. He lauded Film actor Nana Patekar’s self-service in that mission.

He admitted a huge gap of demand and supply is witnessed in the healthcare sector and said efforts must be made to a bridge the gap. There are about seven to eight lakh doctors in the country and the number must be increased. He also strongly batted for opening of new medical colleges and nursing colleges to meet the required strength of medical hands. The government, he said, was seized of the situation and schemes were being finalized to meet such challenges.
The hospital was decked up with white and green theme decorations and white flowers bunches were hung to impart artistic looks to the hospital where no section was closed down, on that day   too, to cater to the needs of patients.
The Hospital’s Managing Director P.N. Arora , who evinced keen interest in ensuring that no patient was subjected to any inconvenience on the day due to the high profile function organized to mark yet another feather in the hospital with addition of latest pulmonary and chest  checkup equipment at the disposal of a team of experts, some of them joined recently. High end machines and other equipments, worth several million rupees, were procured to handle patients, suffering with breathing and other ailments because of spiking pollution in the NCR region. He in his crisp address recalled his association with Gadkari ,who, he said, is pragmatic in approach and visionary policy maker.

Gadkari opened the special wing and took round of the hospital and appreciated humane approach while delivering best possible treatment.

For the Hospital’s Director Upasana Arora, it was an occasion to boost up further the morale entire staff . She said 46 per cent staff of the hospital were women.  In a detailed narrative on the hospital’s ,arduous journey during last  few decades and its ever increasing compassionate  approach in extending best Medicare to needy patients, she encapsulated all developments neatly .

She highlighted the free medical camp, organized by the hospital on the Ambedkar Birth anniversary, and a large number of patients were treated free of cost treatment, which among other  services, ranged from free cardiac surgeries, cost medical tests and on the spot consultations. Eminent Gynecologist Sashi Arora also spoke to the gathering.
