40% of Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Can Get rid of Medicines: Dr. SauviK Das Gupta

HE WAS writhing in pain and agony was writ large on the face, but a healing hand protruded from a free medical camp and assuaged his pain with medication and plain litany of precautions and exercises.

The Sunday panacea was not handy for such middle aged  patient alone, but for about 100 others too. They had turned at the camp organized by counseling and awareness for the treatment of rheumatism and Autoimmune disease and its prevention methods.

 Yashoda Super Specialty Hospital, Kaushambi Ghaziabad, on Sunday, September 16, organised a one-day free arthritis and rheumatology consultation camp by senior Rheumatologist  of the Dr. Sauvik Das Gupta, formerly at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

Free consultation was provided to more than 100 patients who participated in the camp.

Dr. Sauvik Das Gupta informed the patients, that rheumatoid arthritis and disease can be identified through tests and the side effects of this can change the routine of life and proper treatment advice, medicines, and other advanced methods can stop the progression of the disease.

Dr. Sauvik also said that rheumatic disease can be found in children also, it can be prevented by sending the patient to the Rheumatology consultant at the right time.

In the camp, the patients told that they are mainly suffering from pain in joints, stiffness with pain in morning joints, pain in the heel of the foot, joint locks, especially in the knee and elbows (the inability to move), forming a solid node under the affected area near the affected joint, the complication of severe pain in the joints at night.

Dr. Sauvik counselled the patients that 40% of patients having rheumatoid arthritis, they can be relieved of medicines by providing proper treatment. Nearly 25 patients found that lubricant was found to be finished or decreased.

 A 56-year-old Mrs. Raj Kumari (name changed) told that she is not able to hold even a gas lighter due to illness, and in many patients, the amount of uric acid was found to be increased.

Mrs. Kamla (changed name) resident of Lumbini Kaushambi told that she has been suffering from Rehumatoid Arthritis for the last 15 years and she used to consult Dr. Sauvik Das for consultation at the All India Institute, New Delhi, and when she came to know that he is is now available full time at Yashoda Hospital, Kaushambi ,she came to consult her.

Dr. Sauvik told that her illness increased in lungs and needs further investigation. Dr. P.N. Arora, Managing Director of the hospital , Yashoda  congratulated Dr. Sauvik and team on the successful completion of the Camp and appreciated their efforts to hold this Camp.
