At times when debates are underway for disruptions in the healthcare care sector, ancient Indian medicines are catching the global attention.
Calling researchers to unveil this hidden treasure of country’s Vedas and bring out its profound understanding and its scientific foundation for the current and future generations, Prof P B Sharma, President, AIU and Vice Chancellor, Amity University Haryana, Founder Vice Chancellor of Rajeev Gandhi Technical University and Delhi Technical University Says through most modern scientific tools of drug design & drug discovery, these researchers should make India proud of accelerated herbal and medicinal plant medicines that benefit millions at home and the vast humanity from such wonder drugs.
According to him, It may be pertinent to mention that the global market for herbal and medicinal plants based drugs and medicines is expected to grow from US $62 billion per year to more than US $5 trillion by 2050 as per UNESCO, 1998.
He says India can reap rich harvest from this great opportunity by engaging into deep scientific research and translation to herbal drugs and medicines. Higher end R & D for translational research on herbal and medicinal plants in an area of top priority for India to achieve its mission of “Health for All” as also to scale large market opportunity that lies ahead.
To buttress his claim, he, in a write up, recently recalled his life time narrative. He elucidated personal Testimony of Lever Regeneration at the tender age of 3 by milk drops of gular tree (Also called Umar).
”It was 1951 almost at the tender age of 03 that I had developed a chronic lever disorder. My father who had by then settled in the town of Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh arranged for my treatment of lever from all quarters including allopathy doctors and local physicians but in vain. The doctors advised that nothing can be done and I am near the death point and wished me all the luck.
My father was highly disturbed as he saw in me his dream of shaping me as academician. At this point my mother insisted that we go back to village Khamtala, near the District town of Vidisha, our native place. She hoped that the healthy atmosphere of the village and the prayers of the people there may work as a miracle.
As we reached our native village Khamtala, my maternal uncle, Pt Khushi Lal Choubey who was known in the village and nearby villages for his profound knowledge and expertise in herbal and medicinal plants to treat very many ailments took the challenge of treating me for my lever, that was almost dying by that time.
Every morning, just before the sunrise he would take me approximately 100 yards away from our house to a nearby Gular (also called Umar) tree. He would then make a small cut into its bark to extract a few drops of its milk, will collect it on a cotton bud and then squeeze one or two drops on my tongue. And the miracle happened. In almost a week time I was almost fully recovered and was able to run around and was able to eat and digest food.
Would any one accept that from that age in 1951, I had not stomach disorder & any other lever ailment for the last 67 years? What more never any virus has touched me, not even ordinary fever?
So in my opinion Gular/Umar tree and its milk drop had cured my lever forever. I am not sure any scholar has worked on this wonder medicine for curing lever and its regeneration!
Great treasure is hidden in our herbal and medicinal plants and in the ancient Ayurveda that advocates for the herbal and medicinal plants based treatment of diseases and also for developing immunity from deadly diseases.”( English name– Cluster fig, Country fig; Hindi name– Gular;Sanskrit name– Udumbar, Jantuphal, Yagyang; Kingdom– Plantae;Family name– Moraceae;Scientific name– Ficus racemosa;Chemical composition:It contains tannin, wax and rubber. NOTE :These are personal views and testimony of Prof.Sharma, and scientific researches are yet to done on the efficacy of Gular for such treatment, so it is advisable not to experiment such medication without :professional medical advice, we do not hold any responsibility for its consumption by any reader at his or her own. )
