Black beauty flies to freedom on borders

For him it was a hopeless case but an enthusiastic bunch of morning walkers thought other wise ,and said it was never too late even in hopeless situation.

The veteran politician and national level volleyball ball player of yester years Harpal Singh Panwar , fromer  member of Parliament, was on his early morning walk in a public park in Vaishali area of NCR ,but his eyes were fixed on a huge Street light pole pitched there.
As an ace shooter his eyes gazed the pole  as if it was his favorite volley ball basket and it's huge wooden  post.

He noticed something lurching from top of the pole. The moment  he pointed out to others that some object  is hanging precariously there ,the motely  crowd gathered in split of seconds. the height defied their vision and nothing could be deciphered with certainty.

Inhailing  fresh air and enjoying wafting fragrance of lush green grass and rain soaked earth ,he quietly walked away to embark on his routine morning rounds. Much to his chagrin, the gathered group had turned into a pack of volunteers instantly.

Fired by zeal to save what they suspected a full grown black kite which was badly entangled in glass cerated  manjha.

It was too high in air to untangle the bird. Bitten by cynicism  bug ,some dubbed the exercise as a futile bid  for a carcass.

Unfazed by shrill of mocks and giggles, some youth and veterans pooled
their Wits and bamboo sticks around. some suggested re -enactment of janamastmi type Govindas' pyramids to bring down  till then mysterious black object .

Finally, their valiant efforts succeeded and it was dislodged with time tested tricks to pluck ripened fruits.

Much to their horror and pleasant surprise as well, they had got a black kite with sharp peak. It's feathers were almost sewn with the controversial manjha generally tied with high flying  colourful  man made paper kites in season July and August to cut rivals “Patangs” ( Kites) in nail biting mid air sport.

It was not a facile task to unwrap the sharp thread even  as the winged creature showed no signs of life.Working with scientific precision the group virtually unstitched  the manjha around the  badly wounded bird.
Dried out and fresh droplets of blood on the creature had narrated the tale  that it's body was soaked in oozing blood and overnight rains. Finally,it was unwrapped and debate went viral that it is no more.
Incorrigible  optimistic crowd opined that tender touch will infuse life. After a few minutes, it gained some consciousness and opened eyes. She, hallucinating in nightmare, could not distinguish whether they were Messiha ( savior s) or Sayyads ( hunters ).
waging last battle of survival, she violently moved her sharp beak to stave off  threat and riveted eyes to gauge lurking dangers.

The saviors put her on a dry patch of land  and helped it to stand on her injured frail paws.Having gained confidence in couple of minutes, she in her majestical   gait took a few steps and swiftly flapped her way to hovering black and thunderous clouds atop.

The moment she too off,the crowd was flabbergasted and burst into celebrations. Some one commented she had now crossed borders to Delhi for their known Ghazipur dumping ground of garbage  in front of Sabzi and Murga ( Chicken ) mandi.

Mr  Panwar who hails from sugar bowl tracts of Muzzafernagar , UP,stood in a corner and  relished the captivating spectacle, seeping in sweet memories. He was now convinced that  nine  of ten common people are really great and honest in approach.

Narrating the incident to law makers in the central hall of India's Parliament with glistened eyes this week ,he appreciated the worth emulating fighting spirit of saviors and survivor alike.
The bird despite trapped in deadly manjha, overnigt rains and dripping blood kept her hopes of survival alive as if godly help will knock her doors at break of dawn. So, the message is whenever you spot such a never a hanging bird,Don’t presume that it is dead asd she might be waiting for your help this kite.
Early morning Up in lark walkers had started  trooping in as she gazed down to catch some one’s  attention .it appeared she might be in trouble for more than twelve hours and writhing in pain . Agony and misery was writ large on her face when she was downloaded in full public view.

So never give up, sucess  never eludes those who wage struggle in the most hostile environs.

Informatively, A Delhi court had recently directed the government and MCD to raise awareness about the fatal threat from razor sharp manjhas . The court had mentioned that 15 separate cases from Delhi, UP and Rajasthan and at least two deaths .The Judgement had come on a PIL filed for ban on the nylon and synethtic “Chinese manjha” in Delhi. The glass lined thread  proves deadly both for scores of birds and people on street.
