Sudhir Tailang ,renowned
cartoonist, is no more .in the untimely demise, his infectious smile is also no
more, but his memories will remain etched on mind like carving on stones.
It was a few years ago
,celebrities ,business tycoons ,top politicians, media moguls and many others
were at the Amausi airport in Lucknow at dead of night. Bone chilling winds
were harsh on those trooping there to board flights. They were all on return trip after attending a high profile marriage party.
Charted planes were
lined up like scooters.every one was in tearing hurry to catch first available
flight to reach destinations.People were in panic that if fog starts flights
can not take off.
I was last in the queue to collect the
boarding pass ,but I was equally anxious to catch first available plane to new
Delhi.
Planes were available
,but the mute question was how to get into the first flight back home before
fog plays spoil sport.
Sudhir could
understand my latent apprehensions and he was many heads ahead in the queue. First acclaimed fashion
designer,Rohit Bal, sporting smile, walked upto me and offered help to get the
card.
I politely acknowledged his gesture but chose
not to take obligation. A smiling Sudhir who was given tickets by many fellow
passengers to get the boarding pass walked upto me and sought ticket so that he
can help me.
Stunned by his
gesture, I said no problem ,the queue is moving fast.his friendly nature
had unarmed me and I really appreciated the cartoonist .I was wondering that
Sudhir was ready to help every one and was least bothered for his flight.
Today ( Feb 6,2016)when around 1300 Hrs ,a fellow journalist broke the news ,all inter actions with Sudhir emerged as flim and I was stuck at the Amausi air port episode. We met many times and every time, he left some last impression of his personality .
The Cartonnist passed away in a hospital after waging battle against brain tumour which had afflicted him two years ago. His cartoons , full of satire ,were always witty and conveying a deep message on the contemporary politics. He was 55 and had many accolades in life.
