APHI HAILS BUDGET'S HEALTH SOPS; IT WILL HELP POORS IN A BUIG WAY : DR PN ARORA





Chairman of the Association of Healthcare Providers (India), Delhi and NCR chapter  Dr PN Arora has described today’s budget proposals by finance Minister Arun Jaitely as the world’s largest government funded health care 
programme titled National Health Protection Scheme, and observed it is a major mile stone . “It is an unprecedented and laudable move”.
  Dr Arora, MD of Yashoda Group of super specialty Hospital Kaushmbhi , envisioned a major relief for poor patients and said the scheme would cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) providing coverage upto  5 lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.

The government has also  committed Rs Twelve hundred  crore for the National Health Policy, 2017, which with one point five lakh Health and Wellness Centers will bring health care system closer to the homes of people.

Now it is the duty of stake holders to implement all plans in national spirit glossing over personal gains .it will lay solid foundation of New India,said Dr Arora.

According to him, Relief in tax liability for health insurance premium will also encourage people for healthy living practices and hoped it will trigger more health awareness

Informatively,The Government today announced two major initiatives in health sector , as part of Ayushman Bharat programme.Mr Jaitely while presenting the General  in Parliament said that this was aimed at making path breaking interventions to address health holistically, in primary, secondary and tertiary care systems, covering both prevention and health promotion.

The initiatives are as follows:-The National Health Policy, last year  has envisioned Health and Wellness Centers as the foundation of India’s health system. Under this one point five lakh centers will bring health care system closer to the homes of people. These centers will provide comprehensive health care, including for non-communicable diseases and maternal and child health services. These centers will also provide free essential drugs and diagnostic services.

  The Budget has allocated Rs.Twelve hundred crore for this flagship programme. Contribution of private sector through CSR and philanthropic institutions in adopting these centres is also envisaged.

The second flagship programme under Ayushman Bharat is National Health Protection Scheme, which will cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) providing coverage upto five lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. 
                     
 This will be the world’s largest government funded health care programme. Adequate funds will be provided for smooth implementation of this programme.

The Finance Minister further said, that these two health sector initiatives under Ayushman Bharat Programme will build a New India 2022 and ensure enhanced productivity, wellbeing and avert wage loss and impoverishment. These Schemes will also generate lakhs of jobs, particularly for women.

The Finance Minister said, that in order to further enhance accessibility of quality medical education and health care, 24 new Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals will be set up, by up-grading existing district hospitals in the country. This would ensure that there is at least 1 Medical College for every Three Parliamentary Constituencies and at least 1 Government Medical College in each State of the country.

Arora, who represents APHI,an association of ten thousand  plus hospitals ,said It is on incumbent on health sector people to ensure implementation of the plans so that the affordable Medicare could  be delivered to patients
